Seward County Wrestling Teams Place at Huskerland Duals

On Saturday, March 13 members of the Milford and Seward wrestling clubs joined forces to create dual teams to compete at the annual Huskerland Duals in Grand Island with the 6th-8th grade “Blue Eagles” (or blugles as the kids preferred nickname) placing third in the Class A division at the duals.   The team was weakened by ending up with a couple of weight classes open and having to have a couple younger kids wrestle up, but fought hard to place behind an all-star team from Scottsbluff and a team from Grand Island.   The team was one match away from placing second by narrowly losing a dual to Grand Island.  The Seward County 6-8th grade purple team and the Seward County 3-5th grade teams both had multiple open weight classes making it harder to compete but wrestled with pride and both teams brought home the Sportmanship Awards for their Divisions.

Wrestling on the 6-8th blue eagles were:  Noah Patton, Jacob Bitterman, Jared Phillips, Jordan Redler, John Bitterman, Dawson Messenger, Zach Grunke, Cory Kennedy and Keith Wolverton.  Members of the 6-8th grade Purple team were: Joseph Reimers, Augustine Reimers, Dakota Fernau, Alexander Reimers, Josh Martin, Josh Rolfsmeier and Cody Burkhardt.   Members of the 3-5th grade team were: Wyatt Schoepf, Sam Copley, Sean Martin, Trey Lopez, Jakup Phillips, Tyler Sanchez, Jacob Bitterman, Noah Patton, Jacob Wiessen, Joseph Reimers, Keighton Moore and Kenny Sanchez.
